A Kona man who was arrested after a fatal shooting in Kona on Thursday (March 31) has been released from police custody.

At 2:15 p.m. Friday (April 1), detectives released 70-year-old James Mansker of Kailua-Kona pending further investigation.

An autopsy on the victim, 62-year-old Marsha Mansker of Kailua-Kona, has been scheduled for Monday (April 4) to determine her exact cause of death.

In response to a 7:11 a.m. call Thursday, Kona Patrol officers found Marsha Mansker unresponsive with a fatal gunshot wound to the head at a home on the 73-1200 block of Mahilani Drive in the Kona Highland subdivision.

James Mansker was arrested at the scene on suspicion of second-degree murder.
