Two men were arrested and a juvenile was taken to the hospital following an affray Monday (July 18) in Hilo.

In response to a 10 p.m. call reporting a fight in the Lanakila Housing area, South Hilo Patrol officers encountered a 16-year-old boy with injuries. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was treated for head and body injuries and then released at 1 a.m. Tuesday (July 19).

Two Hilo men, 19-year-old William Fuiava and 18-year-old Tyhron Kopura, were arrested and taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

At 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, police charged each man with second-degree assault and a liquor violation involving a minor. Bail was set at $2,000 each.

Both men remained at the cell block until their initial court appearance on Wednesday (July 20).
