A Hilo man has been charged with burglary, theft and drug offenses in connection with a break-in last week in Hilo.

The burglary was reported after someone stole personal items from a home on Iolani Street last Wednesday (July 15). Police investigation led to the identity of a suspect, 37-year-old Alan Filoteo of Hilo.

Filoteo was arrested Thursday (July 16) and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree theft, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $11,000.

He was held at the Hilo police cellblock until his initial court appearance on Friday (July 17).
