Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for information about an assault Monday (July 25) in Puna.

At 10 p.m. Monday, Puna Patrol officers responded to an anonymous report of a man on the side of Upper Puna Road in the Kalapana Black Sands subdivision.

Officers located an unresponsive 44-year-old man who was bleeding about the head area. He was taken to the Hilo Medical Center for treatment and later flow to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he is listed in stable but critical condition.
