Hawaiʻi Island police have not yet identified the body of a man found floating Tuesday (August 16) off the Hāmākua Coast.

He is describe as Caucasian, 6-foot-3, 150 pounds with blue eyes, red medium-length hair and a red goatee. He is estimated to be in his late 20s to mid-30s.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday (August 23) to determine the cause of death.

Police ask anyone who knows the man’s identity or who has any information about this case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Wendall Carter at 961-2378 or wendall.carter@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300.

The case is being investigated as a coroner’s inquest.
