Media Release

A 31-year-old Kona woman was involved in a one-vehicle traffic casualty Monday evening (September 21) in Kailua-Kona.

She was identified as Keri Flores of Kailua-Kona.

Responding to a 7:41 p.m. call Monday, police determined that Flores was a passenger in a 2015 Nissan Sentra that had been traveling east on Manawalea Street when she fell out of the passenger side of the vehicle and sustained life threatening injuries.

Flores was taken to Kona Community Hospital and later flown to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, where she was pronounced dead at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday (September 22).

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers have taken over the coroner’s inquest investigation and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Police will wait for the autopsy results before counting this death toward the official traffic fatality count.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information about it to call Officer Kimo Keliipaakaua at 326-4646, extension 229.
