Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a possible drowning Sunday (October 11) at Anaehoʻomalu Bay in Waikoloa.

In response to a 12:59 p.m. report, South Kohala officers  learned that a concerned citizen had pulled the unknown man to shore and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation with another bystander. Fire Department personnel arrived but were unable to revive the man.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation and are attempting to identify the victim.

The case has been classified as a coroner’s inquest. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
