Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a double sexual assault Tuesday (December 22) in the Piʻihonua area.

Sometime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown man who spoke pidgin approached an adult female and a minor female in the vicinity of the Piʻihonua bridge and led them to a remote area, where he sexually assaulted both of them.

The man is described as a “local male” with a dark complexion, in his late 30s or early 40s, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, about 200 pounds with a medium build and a “beer belly.” He was unshaven with short black hair, a black mustache and hazel eyes. He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue surf shorts and black sunglasses.

A 2-wheel-drive pickup truck with a regular cab was parked nearby. It may or may not have been related to this case.

Police ask anyone who has any information about this case or the identity of the suspect to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Scott Amaral at 961-2276 or scott.amaral@hawaiicounty.gov.
