Media Release

Hawaii County Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with an abduction and sexual assault this past weekend.

The man was traveling in the Puna-bound direction on Kilauea Avenue in the area of Lanikaula Street in a white foreign sedan around 1 a.m. Sunday (May 18) and was apparently following an adult female who was walking alone.

The man then attacked the female along the roadway and abducted her. While Puna bound on Highway 11 near Stainback Highway, the man sexually assaulted the female in his car. She jumped out of the car and ran. The man stopped his vehicle and attacked the female again.

A passing motorist stopped and the attacker fled in his car traveling up Stainback Highway.

He is described as approximately 5-foot-7, 185-to-200 pounds with short dark brown hair, brown eyes and tan skin. He was wearing a short-sleeved white T-shirt and blue jeans.
