Hawaii County Police have initiated a coroner's inquest in connection with the body of a diver found this morning (August 28) in the Puako area.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Kenneth K. Yamase of Hilo. A resident reportedly heard a call for help and with the assistance of other divers in the vicinity found his body afloat and brought it to the shore to begin CPR.

Police found no evidence of foul play and have requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The South Kohala Patrol Division is continuing the investigation.
