The Hawai'i Police Department will join forces with the Fire Department and the Department of Education on Friday, May 15, for a dramatic anti-drunk-driving event at Hilo High School called "Shattered Dreams."

Motorists and area residents who see emergency crews in the area should know that the scene is only a staged crash to educate high school students about the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The program simulates a mock traffic crash, including emergency response and the accident's effect on those involved.

Police will barricade Laimana Street in both directions between Waiānuenue Avenue and Alae Street from 6 a.m. to noon. No parking will be allowed between those hours.
