Media Release

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is cautioning the public to be aware of athletes training for the Ironman triathlon, which is scheduled for Saturday (October 11). Between now and then, bicyclists and runners will be training along West Hawaiʻi roads, especially between Hāwī and Kailua-Kona.

In addition, police remind the public that parking is not allowed at any time on the mauka side of Kuakini Highway north of Palani Road between Ilima Court and Kona Brewing Company, as doing so presents a hazard to bicyclists using the adjacent bike lane. Motorists are advised to follow the posted “No Parking” signs in that area.
