JULY 18, 2003MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have identified the body of a man found on Tuesday (July 15, 2003) as that of Narding Vidad, 50, of Hilo.

Vidad was identified through fingerprints during an autopsy conducted Friday (July 18) at the Hilo Medical Center.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, although police said they have no reason to suspect foul play was involved in Vidad’s death. Finding the cause of death may depend on the results of toxicological tests, which are expected in three or four weeks.

Vidad was reported missing by his daughter on July 14 and was last seen on July 11 in Hilo.

Responding to a 3:30 p.m. call Tuesday, South Hilo patrol officers found the decomposed body inside a green 1993 Honda sedan. The car was parked in an orchard in the upper Wainaku area.
