MEDIA RELEASE

Only one-way traffic will be allowed on Kapiolani Street in Hilo during the afternoon hours of Sunday (October 7, 2001).

To accommodate the annual parish picnic held by St. Joseph Church, only traffic heading in the Puna, or south, direction will be allowed between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. on Kapiolani Street between Waianuenue Avenue and Haili Street. During these hours, parking will be allowed on both sides of Kapiolani.

After 5 p.m., traffic will return to its normal two-way pattern.

St. Joseph Church had originally scheduled the event for September 16, but postponed the picnic out of respect for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
