Forty-three basketball teams composed of more than 220 youths aged 9 through 14 competed in the “Click It or Ticket” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament held May 20-22, 2005, at Papaikou Gymnasium.

In the 9-10 Boys Division, the Warriors ousted Big Dogs 11-1 to claim the title. The Rebels finished third.

In the 11-12 Boys Division, Warriors Gold edged Warriors Silver 6-4 in the title game. The Wahine Warriors II finished third. (Girls teams may enter the Boys Division, but boys teams may not enter the Girls Division.)

In the 13-14 Boys Division, the Bears out-gunned Take It Outside Red 14-13 in the finals. Take It Outside White finished third.

In the 9-10 Girls Division, Zoom II outplayed Warriors Blue 7-4 for the title. Zoom I finished third.

In the 11-12 Girls Division, Wahine Warriors II beat Wahine Warriors I 14-8 in the finals. The pirates finished third.

In the 13-14 Girls Division, the Slammers edged out K.S. White 12-9 for the title. Showtime came in third.

“This tournament is the kick-off for our ‘Click It or Ticket’ enforcement mobilization,” said Sergeant Dexter Veriato, head of the Traffic Services Section.

“From May 23 through June 5, 2005 officers’ island-wide will be heavily enforcing the seat belt usage laws. It’s part of a national zero-tolerance campaign to increase seat belt use and reduce fatalities and injuries in traffic crashes.”
