Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying whoever is responsible for a theft near the Kealakaha Bridge construction site in North Hilo.
An unknown person or persons broke into a locked container at the 30-mile marker off Route 19 and stole a Honda generator, a Lincoln mig welder and rebar cutter. The items were valued at $3,745. The theft took place sometime between 3 p.m. on March 3 and 6 a.m. on March 4 .
Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Officer Henry Chong at 962-2120 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
