Residents of Maile Street were treated to a “Maile Easter Block Party” Saturday (April 3, 1999).
Officers from the Community Policing Program and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), State Health Department personnel and private businesses sponsored the event, which included an Easter Egg hunt, health presentation, scavenger hunt and community softball game.
About 45 to 50 neighborhood residents joined in the activities.
Community Policing Officer John Rodrigues Jr. said the block party was part of a “continuing effort by CPO officers to join with communities in partnership to increase the quality of life in our neighborhoods.”
