Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 34-year-old Puna man and his 3-year-old son who have been missing for three months.
Police said Jonathan Masutani of Kurtistown, Puna, and his son, Akeno, were last heard from on Monday, April 24, 2000, when the father called his boss in Kona and told him he was taking his son to the doctor in Hilo.
The two were last known to be in the Volcano area during the last week of April.
Jonathan Masutani is described as being Japanese, being 5-feet-10 in height, weighing about 150 pounds with a slim build and having black hair and brown eyes.
Akeno Masutani is described as being part-Japanese, being about 2-feet-8 in height, weighing about 35 pounds and having black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone having information about the whereabouts of either one is asked to call Jonathan’s sister, Jacqueline McCoy, at 885-5114 or the Hawaii County Police Department at 935-3311.
Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The identities of Crime Stoppers callers are kept strictly confidential.
