Five arrested, charged in Kona drug busts 02-19-04

Kona police charged five persons Thursday (February 19, 2004) with a variety of drug offenses after they were arrested during the execution of four search warrants on Tuesday.

The drug arrests were made by officers of the Kona Ice Task Force and West Hawaii Vice Section.

Serving search warrants on two residences in Honaunau, South Kona, police arrested three suspects, identified as Larry Gladden, 45, of Honaunau; Marie Saragosa, 40, of Honaunau; and Brandon Ka’ahanui, 31, of Kealia.

Gladden and Saragosa were charged with two counts of promoting dangerous drugs, one count of promoting detrimental drugs and two counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bail was set at $4,050 each. Ka’ahanui was charged with one count of promoting dangerous drugs and one count of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $2,000.

During execution of the search warrants, officers recovered mini Ziploc packets containing a crystalline substance, small amounts of dried marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $300 in cash.

During a traffic stop at the junction of Hawaii Belt Road (Route 180) and Palani Road (Route 190) in Kailua-Kona, police arrested two other suspects, identified as Levie Genesiran, 36, and Clifford Gaspar, 34, both of no permanent address.

Genesiran was charged with two counts of promoting dangerous drugs, two counts of promoting detrimental drugs and two counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $11,200. Gaspar was charged with three counts of promoting dangerous drugs, two counts of promoting detrimental drugs and three counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $15,200.

Executing a search warrant on the vehicle, officers recovered 21.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and $865 in cash.

All five suspects are being held in the Kona police cellblock in lieu of bail.
