Four arrested in Kona ‘ice’ bust 12-20-03

West Hawaii Ice Task Force and other officers arrested four persons and confiscated 7.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” while executing three search warrants Friday (December 19, 2003) in the Captain Cook area of South Kona.

Also confiscated ser small amounts of marijuana, ammunition and various pills and tablets. In addition, officers seized a motor vehicle and $2,054 in cash subject to forfeiture proceedings.

Arrested were John Krems, 41, Gretta Rebardi, 35, and Donald Oliveros, 45, all of Captain Cook, South Kona, and Casey Imai, 21, of Waikoloa, South Kohala.

Krems was charged with two counts of promoting dangerous drugs, two counts of promoting detrimental drugs, promoting harmful drugs, ownership of a firearm prohibited and five counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $19,750.

Rebardi was charged with two counts of promoting dangerous drugs, promoting detrimental drugs and two counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $8,250.

Oliveros was charged with promoting dangerous drugs illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $2,000.

Oliveros later posted bail, and Imai was released pending further investigation. Krems and Rebardi were being held at the Kona police cellblock pending bail.

During the drug busts, the West Hawaii Ice Task force was assisted by the Kona Vice Section, community policing officers and the police department’s Special Response Team.

Police are continuing their efforts to address the “ice” problem on the Big Island. They are reminding residents to report information relating to illicit drug use and distribution by calling the “ice” hotline numbers — 326-”ZERO-ICE” (329-0423) in Kona and 934-”VICE” (934-8423) in Hilo. All information and the identity of callers are kept strictly confidential.
