Officers from the East Hawaii Vice Section, East Hawaii Ice Task Force and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have arrested four suspects after recovering more than three pounds of crystal methamphetamine on September 11, 2004, in a parcel delivered to Hilo.

With assistance from the State Narcotics Enforcement Division, the investigators arrested three suspects at a Waiakea uka residence after they tried to discard the parcel in their backyard.

The three were identified as William Clifford, 25, of Kaumana; Sloan Paglinawan, 25, of Keaukaha; and Mariano Carriaga, 32, of Kaumana.

Clifford and Paglinawan are being held on Oahu facing federal drug Charges. Carriaga was released pending further investigation.

The investigation continued in California, where federal agents identified the sender of the parcel. On September 21, 2004, Scott William Stadnisky, 29, of Milpitas, California, was arrested on federal drug charges and is currently being held there.

Vice officers also seized a 2002 Cadillac Escalade and a custom motorcycle, estimated at a combined value of $50,000.

Calling the confiscation of the drug a major seizure, Big Island police are continuing the investigation with possible federal indictments to follow.
