I. MEMBERSHIP
All state and county employees become members of the Retirement System upon their entry into service.
II. CONTRIBUTIONS
Members' contribution shall be as provided by the Hawaii Revised Statutes.
III. DESIGNATION OF BENEFICIARIES
A. Upon applying for membership, an employee is required to designate the beneficiaries whom he desires to receive the benefits payable upon his death.
B. One or more persons may be designated. Family relationship is not required.
C. The marriage or divorce of the member or the death of a named beneficiary voids these designations. Members should keep beneficiary designations current and change their designations and circumstances as their personal choice may require.
IV. APPLYING FOR BENEFITS
GUY A. PAULA. The benefits provided by the Retirement System must be applied for in every case on proper forms furnished by the system.
B. Members may consult the department's Fiscal Officer for advice and assistance in applying for benefits.
