HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT - ILLNESS OR OTHER DISABILITY WHILE OFF DUTY

I. MEMBER'S RESPONSIBILITY

Any member who is unable to report for duty at the time scheduled due to illness or other disability shall make or cause notification to be made of such inability in accordance with Section IX of General Order 502

II. LENGTH OF DISABILITY

A. Whenever such disability shall be for five or more consecutive working days, the member shall present himself to a physician for examination.

B. The member shall cause the department to be notified of the physician's findings and the approximate number of days he shall be confined.

III. RETURN TO DUTY

Upon returning to duty, the member shall complete the Application for Leave of Absence form as required.

IV. FEIGNED DISABILITY

Any member reporting illness or other disability while off duty which is feigned or simulated shall be subject to disciplinary action.
