Police charged two 20-year-old Hilo men on Wednesday (June 29) for causing extensive damage to a Hilo school campus with graffiti.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section charged Dezmond Marquise Bonaparte and Robert S. Lindbergh at 5:10 p.m. with second-degree criminal property damage after they allegedly caused damage in excess of $2,000 by spraying and writing graffiti on various buildings and fixtures on the Hilo High School campus. Bail for Bonaparte and Lindbergh was set at $2,000 each. They were scheduled to make their initial court appearance Thursday (June 30).

At 12:42 a.m., Tuesday morning, (June 28), South Hilo Patrol officers responding to a report received from a security officer about graffiti at various locations on the school campus. Bonaparte and Lindbergh were quickly identified as possible suspects.

Police ask that anyone who may have information about this case or other similar acts call Detective Norbert Serrao at 961-2383.
