Acting on a search warrant issued after a two-day investigation, vice officers recovered 2.6 pounds of black tar heroin, 1.6 pounds of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana from a residence in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

The street value of the heroin was conservatively estimated at $240,000; the value of the cocaine, at $30,000.

In addition to the drugs, officers recovered $5,850 in cash.

They arrested also two persons, a 36-year-old male and a 38-year-old female, at the residence. The woman was later released pending further investigation, and the male was expected to be charged with several drug offenses in state court with bail set at $50,000.

According to Officer Robert Hironaka of the Vice Section, the heroin seizure is one of the largest in the history of the Hawaii County Police Department. He added that the drug seizure has made a major dent in the heroin supply in East Hawaii.
