Media Release

The most recent edition of the Crime Stoppers television program "Hawai’i Island’s Most Wanted" features a 51-year-old man wanted for a grand jury indictment on drug offenses, a man wanted for violating probation in a heroin case, and a man wanted in an investigation into violating a court order and making a harassing phone call.

The new episode begins airing Friday, March 13.

In it, police ask for the public’s help in locating Barry Kashiwabara, who is wanted for a six-count grand jury indictment for meth trafficking and other drug offenses. He is described as Japanese, 5-foot-8, about 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

The television program also features Mark Wirth, who is wanted for violating probation in a heroin case. He is described as Caucasian, 6-feet tall, about 150 pounds with hazel eyes and blond hair.

"Hawai’i Island’s Most Wanted" also asks for the public’s help in locating Sundown Scrigna, who is wanted in connection with an investigation of violating a court order and making a harassing phone call. Scrigna was last seen in the Pāhoa area of the Puna District. He is described as Caucasian, 6-foot 2, approximately 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Since the show’s debut in February 2007, police have asked for the public’s help in locating 56 people who were either wanted or missing. They have cleared 31 of those cases because of the community’s response, said the show’s host, Assistant Chief Henry Tavares.

Police ask anyone with information about the wanted or missing persons to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo and 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers calls are kept confidential. Crime Stoppers does not tape record phone calls or subscribe to caller ID.

"Hawai’i Island’s Most Wanted" is a project of Crime Stoppers Hilo, Inc., which is a partnership of the business community, the media and the police. It was inspired by the national TV show, "America’s Most Wanted."

The program airs on Na Leo O Hawai’i Community Television Channel 54 on Sundays at 5 p.m. and Fridays at 5:30 p.m. It also airs intermittently on Channel 53.
