The Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) are sponsoring A Click It or Ticket three-on-three Basketball Tournament on May 19-21, 2006, at the Keaau High School Gym.

Team entries are being accepted in the following age groups for both boys’ and girls’ divisions: 5-6,7-8,9-10,11-12,13-14,15-17. The age cut-off date is December 31, 2006. A participant may play only in one division.

“Click It or Ticket” is a national educational and enforcement campaign to increase seat belt usage and decrease traffic fatalities and injuries. “The goal of the tournament is to educate our parents and youths on our seat belt laws,” said Sergeant Dexter Veriato, head of the Traffic Services Section.

Teams wishing to participate are encouraged to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220. Each division will be limited and teams will be required to complete a registration packet prior to the tournament. Completed packets and registration must be turned in on May 9, 2006 between 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the former receiving desk on the first floor of the Hilo police station (Public Safety Building), Building A.
