The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) held its 27th Annual Winter Basketball Classic in Hilo from December 26-29.

Nearly 430 youths between the ages of 9 and 14 participated in 33 teams, including four from Oahu. The tournament was broken into the following divisions: Age 9 and 10, Age 11 and 12, Age 13 and 14, and Girls 12 and Under.

The following is a list of the winners from each age bracket:

Age 9 and 10 Division: Manoa Boom
Cassidy Apo, Micah Fong, Kevin Foster, Jake Kawasaki, Robert Mann, Kealamaikalani Martinson, Cory Mitchel, Brendan Namba, Lance Sataraka, and Cody Wong. Coach Kristl Zukemura.

Age 11 and 12 Division: Kona Sting Rays
Brandon Awa, Po’okela Hanato-Smith, Josiah Kalili Drew Kell, Hoku Liftee, Jaylor Satta-Ellis, Trevor Tanaka, Deion Utrera, and Makani Wall. Coaches BJ Ellis and Lloyd Tanaka.

Age 13 and 14 Division: Ekahi
Lanaki Apele, Kaeo Alapai, Shaun Kagawa, Gideon Kalili, Rylan Kawazoe, Chris Roxburgh, Keni Souza, Kekoa Turner, John Ursua, Jordan Victorine, and Keoni Wong. Coaches Randy Apele and Clifford Victorine.

Girls 12 and Under Division: Keaukaha
Sharlei Graham, Kaily Harris, Raevyn Kaupu, Fantacie Kuamoo, Alexis Pana, Aliyah Pana, Jordan Pule, and Mercedes Victor. Coach Ben Pana.

The HI-PAL Program would like to thank everyone who participated in this event as well as the organizations and businesses that helped to make it successful.

The next scheduled HI-PAL event is the 18th Annual HI-PAL Hope Chapel Kona 3-on-3 Basketball Jam held January 19-21 at the Kailua-Kona multi-basketball court.
