Hawai’i Police Department
Criminal Investigations Section, Area I
Lieutenant Gregory M. Esteban
February 4, 2011
Report No. C11003116
The preliminary pathological results from an autopsy performed on the 57 year-old Hilo man indicate that foul play was not involved.
The medical examiner who performed the examination said that Roy Lemon died as a result of “blunt force injury” and the injury appeared consistent with a fall.
Detectives are awaiting the findings of a toxicology analysis.
On February 3, 2011 at about 7:23 am, South Hilo Patrol officers and Hawaii Fire Department personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive male in a private parking lot off of Kalakaua Street, where they discovered Lemon with an apparent head injury. Lemon was transported by rescue personnel to the Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:27 am.
Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are continuing this investigation, which is classified as a coroner’s inquest.
