The victim was identified as Dominador Macanas of a Hilo address.

Responding to a 6:45 a.m. call, South Hilo patrol officers determined that the victim was crossing Ainaola Drive in a northerly direction when he was struck by a 1996 Mazda pick-up truck traveling west on Ainaola Drive. The victim was not in a crosswalk.
