Hilo residents warned against car break-ins 03-04-03

Police are warning residents of Hilo that the area surrounding lower Haihai Street has recently been the target of car break-ins.

Hilo Community Policing Officer Richard B. Toledo said that cars parked at more than a dozen residences in the area have been broken into since February 27, 2003.

The cars entered were parked at residences on Kinoole, Kupaa, Nalani, East Puainako, Kalanikoa and Laukapu streets. They were broken into during the late night or early morning hours.

Residents in the area are urged to lock their cars at night and make sure their residences are secure against burglars.

Anyone with information about the car break-ins is asked to call Officer Toledo at 959-5072 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
