MEDIA RELEASE

Big Island police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery in a rural area of South Kona on Tuesday.

Police have issued an all-points bulletin for 44-year-old Harry Hose of no permanent address.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the reported home invasion at a home off Highway 11 between the 88- and 89-mile markers. Officers determined that a 15-year-old girl was home alone when a local male confronted her, prevented her from leaving, and announced his intention to steal items from the property.

Police determined that five medical marijuana plants ranging from two to three feet tall were removed from the property.

Witnesses saw a red truck containing four or five males near the home just before the incident. Shortly after the robbery, the same truck was seen leaving the home and traveling north on Highway 11.

Kona detectives assigned to the investigation are seeking Hose in connection with robbery and kidnapping charges. He is described as Hawaiian, 5-foot-6, 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Police warn the public not to approach Hose, who is a convicted felon and considered dangerous. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Sharlotte Bird at 326-4646, extension 275 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
