MEDIA RELEASE

Police have identified a 33-year-old man whose body was found Sunday (May 23, 1999) in Kailua-Kona as Christopher Paul Rein.

Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Wednesday also determined that Rein, of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Ka’u, died of internal injuries. Rein had been involved in a traffic accident Thursday (May 20, 1999) when his motorcycle collided with a motor vehicle in Kealakekua, South Kona.

Rein’s body was found Sunday on the front lawn of the Head Start Building on Hualalai Road in Kailua-Kona.

Two pedestrians were walking along the road when they saw the body lying next to a rock wall and called police at 6:54 a.m.

Kona Criminal Investigation Section detectives say they have no reason to suspect that foul was involved in the man’s death.

Kona CIS detectives are continuing their investigation into the case, classified as a coroner’s inquest, and results of toxicological tests are still pending.

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers will continue the investigation into the accident.
