Kona couple charged with burglary and other offenses 09-23-05

On Thursday, September 22, 2005, West Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section detectives charged a Kona couple, Suliana Tui, F-20, of Captain Cook, and Robert Teinauri-Carman, M-20, of Kailua-Kona, with Burglary, Theft, Credit Card offenses, and drug offenses after they were apprehended by patrol officers attempting to use a stolen credit card at a business in Kailua-Kona.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2005, after investigating a burglary, of a residence in Napoopoo, South Kona, patrol officers contacted several retail establishments in the Kailua-Kona area and advised the businesses of credit cards that were stolen. Approximately 3 hours later, police received information of one of the stolen credit cards being used at a retail store in Kailua-Kona. Patrol officers apprehended the individuals as they were attempting to leave the store in a vehicle reported stolen from another burglary in Keauhou. As a result of the investigation, officers were able to recover items reported stolen in both burglaries and additional stolen property from other cases.
Suliana Tui has been arrested and charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle, 5 counts of Theft, 5 counts of Credit Card offenses, and 3 drug charges after crystal methamphetamine residue, marijuana residue and drug paraphernalia were recovered.
Robert Teinauri-Carman, has been arrested and charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle, 4 counts of Theft, and 3 drug charges similar to that of Suliana Tui.
Bail for Suliana Tui was set at $16,200.00 and bail for Robert Teinauri-Carman was set at $9,200.00. Both individuals were unable to post bail and remained in custody for their court appearance on September 23, 2005, at Kona District Court.
