After conferring with prosecutors, Big Island police have released 36-year-old James S.K. Smith of Kailua-Kona from police custody pending further investigation.
Once detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section complete the investigation, they will forward it to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for review.
