Big Island Vice and Intelligence Unit officers have arrested three men for a variety of drug offenses and seized two vehicles and more than $1,500 in cash in West Hawaii.

Assisted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, State Narcotics Enforcement Division and Hawaii Air National Guard, the officers arrested William Hayes Ackerman, 35, of Honaunau, and James Roland Stoudt, 46, of Keei Beach, South Kona.

Ackerman and Stoudt each were arrested on two counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, a Class A felony.

After further investigation, police obtained search warrants for two vehicles and a residence.

After executing the warrants, they arrested Ackerman on two additional counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, a Class C felony, and one count of possessing illegal drug paraphernalia, a Class C felony. Stoudt was also arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia.

The officers also arrested a third suspect, Roberto Montes Carrillo, 22, of Holualoa, North Kona, on two counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.

Police originally recovered about 11 ounces of cocaine and 3.5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine. Upon executing the search warrants, they also seized 0.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine from a pickup truck and black tar residue from a Honaunau residence.

They also seized for forfeiture a 1985 Nissan Sentra station wagon and a 1986 Nissan pickup truck. The vehicles were valued at about $1,200 each. Officers also seized a total of $1,576 in cash.

After arresting the suspects, police turned the case over to the DEA. The suspects were flown to Honolulu on Thursday and arraigned in federal court.
