A 56-year-old Kona man died Friday (August 28) from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle/pedestrian crash at the intersection of Route 190 and Kalaoa Road in North Kona.

Responding to a 3:46 p.m. call, Kona patrol and Traffic Enforcement Unit officers determined that the victim was walking in a northerly direction on Route 190 on the mauka shoulder of the road when a 58-year-old Kailua-Kona man operating a 1994 Honda four-door sedan and also traveling north drifted onto the shoulder and struck the victim from behind.
