A 28-year-old South Kona man wanted for a violent crime spree was arrested Tuesday (April 20) after police received a Crime Stoppers tip.

Daniel “Dukie” Abraham is being held at the Kona police cellblock while police continue investigations into possible charges of kidnapping, three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, one count of second-degree assault, three counts of third-degree assault, one count of first-degree robbery and three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Some of the victims delayed in reporting their crimes out of fear of retaliation.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section and Juvenile Aid Section are investigating six incidents in which Abraham is the suspect:

  • A 19-year-old Kailua-Kona man reported that a man used a machete to sever a finger from his left hand and cut the bottom of his right foot on February 16.
  • A 28-year-old Captain Cook woman reported that a man forced her into a car at gunpoint, took her to a home in Eden Rock, held her there against her will and punched her about the face and body on February 27.
  • A 25-year-old Hilo man reported that a man punched and kicked him on September 26, 2009, and then removed his car from Pepe’ekeo.
  • A 20-year-old Captain Cook woman reported that a man removed her car from her home without permission on February 16.
  • A 41-year-old Hōnaunau man reported that his car was removed from his home on February 18.
  • A 43-year-old Hōnaunau woman reported that a man removed her sports-utility-vehicle without permission from a scenic lookout point in South Kona on April 17.

After receiving an anonymous tip that the stolen SUV had been seen in the Captain Cook area, police arrested Abraham and another man at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot in Captain Cook, where the stolen SUV was parked.

The other man, 24-year-old Kainoa Jake Kahoalii of South Kona, was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and promoting a dangerous drug. He was also arrested and charged on a warrant for criminal contempt of court. His bail for the contempt charge is $50,000.
