A 30-year-old Kona man was charged Friday (February 6, 2004) with a variety of offenses after he allegedly threatened his former girlfriend and wouldn’t let her leave her residence.

The suspect, identified as James Boyd Brumaghim, of Kealakekua, was arrested Wednesday (February 4, 2004) by West Hawaii Domestic Violence Unit detectives.

Brumaghim was arrested after police officers had determined that in violation of a temporary restraining order issued by the Kona Family Court, he had gone to his former girlfriendÕs residence on Sunday (February 1, 2004), threatened her and prevented her from leaving.

The suspect was charged with two counts of violating a temporary restraining order, one count of kidnapping, one count of intimidating a witness, one count of custodial interference and one count of criminal trespassing.

He is being held in the Kona police cellblock in lieu $18,000 bail and is also being held on a no-bail warrant for violating parole.
