Man charged in North Kohala burglary case 08-06-14

A Kapaʻau man is in police custody in connection with a burglary in North Kohala.

On May 12, a 77-year-old Kapaʻau man reported that tools had been removed from his property.

Investigation by detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section led to a suspect identified as 39-year-old Christopher Kaipo Fernandez of Kapaʻau. He was arrested Monday (August 4) and taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, (August 6) Fernandez was charged with burglary and theft. His bail was set at $4,000. He remained at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (August 7).
