Big Island police have seized a total of 14,070 marijuana plants ranging in height from seedlings to five feet as part of its continuing “Counter-Cannabis Field Operation.”

During the three-day operation that began Monday (May 22, 2000), officers seized plants in the areas of Glenwood, Fern Forest, Hawaiian Acres, Ainaloa, Mountain View, Kapoho, Paradise Aloha Estates and Kaloli Point in Puna and in the areas of Keaukaha, Kaumana and Waiakea Uka in South Hilo.

Joining Big Island police officers in the marijuana eradication enforcement effort were personnel from the Honolulu and Maui Police Departments, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Hawaii Army National Guard and the State Department of Conservation Resources Enforcement.

No incidents were reported, and no one was arrested in the operation.
