MEDIA RELEASE

An 86-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who had been missing from her home overnight was found in good health Thursday (September 19, 2002) in Kona.

The woman, identified as Annette McWilliams, of a Kona Acres subdivision address, was last seen by her family at 1 p.m. Wednesday and reported missing at 8:36 p.m.

Hawaii County Fire Department personnel and equipment — including two helicopters flown in from East Hawaii — responded and joined in the search.

About 1:49 p.m. Thursday, one of the helicopter pilots spotted the woman in thick brush at end of Ahiahi Street about one-fourth of a mile from her residence.

Responding fire rescue personnel determined that she was in good health and released her to members of her family.
