Report No. C11006061
Big Island police are renewing their request for the public’s help in locating a 46-year-old Hilo woman who was reported missing.
Myra M. Hatayama is described as Japanese, about 5-feet tall and about 110 pounds. She has wavy shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes and a tan complexion. Hatayama was last seen wearing a grey tank top, grey shorts and slippers. She often wears prescription glasses.
She was last seen by a companion between late the evening of Friday, March 4, and early the morning of Saturday, March 5, and has not been heard from since.
Detectives have followed up on several leads but have been unable to establish Hatayama’s whereabouts. Circumstances surrounding her disappearance are highly suspicious and police have not ruled out foul play in this investigation, which is currently classified as a missing person case. Police are extremely concerned for her safety and well being.
Prior to her disappearance, Hatayama was often seen operating a red 2006 Jeep Liberty SUV, license plate PWU 744. However, she was said to have been seen last leaving her Wainaku residence on foot.
Police ask that anyone who may have seen Hatayama or have information on her whereabouts call Detective Reed Mahuna at 961-2384.
Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
