MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

South Kohala police officers have recovered more merchandise taken in burglaries over the past two months or so in Waimea.

Over the weekend, police recovered three paintball guns and two pairs of expensive sunglasses taken from C&S Outfitters of Waimea. The value of the recovered items, when new, was estimated at $3,470.

Officers also recovered two stereo speakers, with a combined value of $360, which were taken from Byrd’s Audio Supply in a separate burglary on December 20 last year.

More than $15,000 in merchandise had been stolen from C&S Outfitters sometime during the night of January 29 or morning of January 30. Police later recovered items — valued at about $10,000 when new — that had been taken in the burglary.

So far, items valued at a total of more $13,800 when new have been recovered during the investigation of the two burglaries.

Police also have identified two juvenile suspects who were allegedly involved in the burglaries.
