More than $4,000 in items stolen from construction site 01-09-04

Police are looking for a thief or thieves who stole more than $4,000 in construction and other materials from a home under construction in Paukaa, South Hilo.

Responding to an 11:40 a.m. call Thursday (January 8, 2004), South Hilo patrol officers determined the items were stolen sometime between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

Among the items reported stolen were a red Honda 5,000-watt generator valued at $1,700, a red Coleman 5,000-watt generator valued at $500, a gray Senco wheelbarrow-style air compressor valued at $740, two John Deere tire and rim sets valued at $800 and two teak end tables valued at $300.

Anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the thieves is asked to call Officer Vince Sivankeo of the South Hilo Patrol at 961-2213, or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
