Big Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in a hit and run pedestrian traffic collision which occurred early Sunday morning (January 29, 2006) at approximately 4:30 a.m., within the James Kealoha Beach Park. Witnesses thus far have described a white Honda sedan with a large rear spoiler.

A forty-four year-old Utah man, here on business was reportedly crossing the parking lot area when he was struck by a vehicle which immediately fled the scene. He sustained injuries to his head and body to include internal injuries. The victim was taken to the Hilo Medical Center by HFD personnel where he was confined for several days before being released. He has since returned to his home in Orem, Utah where he is receiving additional treatment for his wounds.

This investigation classified as a first degree negligent injury, is being continued by detectives assigned to the East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section.
