Aloha Exchange Club Representative Dale Tokuuke presents an ‘Officer of the Month’ award to Officer Kimo Veincent

Media Release

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawai’i recognized Officer Kimo Veincent on Thursday (November 18) as “Officer of the Month” for November.

Veincent, a patrol officer with the Puna District, was honored for what Sergeant Juergen Canda called “his diligence and dedication to duty.”

While on patrol in August, Veincent spotted a suspicious car late at night speeding through the Shipman Industrial area of Puna. The officer made a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was wanted for violating probation and failing to appear in court. Kona detectives also had issued an all-points bulletin for the man’s arrest in connection with a burglary.

In nomination papers, Canda noted that the suspect was accompanied by other men known to police and that the traffic stop prevented impending crimes. Canda added that during the same time period, Veincent conducted the largest number of traffic enforcement efforts for his assigned watch and made a DUI arrest, contributing to the highest enforcement of DUI and traffic goals for a single watch in recent years.

As “Officer of the Month,” Veincent is eligible for “Officer of the Year.”

The East Hawaii “Officer of the Month” award is a project of the Aloha Exchange Club of Hilo.
