An 84-year-old male passenger died Friday (May 2, 2003) in a two-car collision at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Hinalani Street Intersection in Kailua-Kona.

The victim was identified as Robert Windsor, of a Kailua-Kona address.

Windsor was a passenger in a 2000 Ford four door driven south by his wife, Audrey Windsor, 81, who was trying to make a left turn off the highway onto Hinalani Street when the car collided with a 1993 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Keawe Dousett, 43, of Kailua-Kona.

The victim was taken to the Kona Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:43 p.m.

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers are continuing an investigation into the fatality.

Windsor’s death was the ninth confirmed traffic fatality on the Big Island so far this year, compared to 14 at the same time last year.
