Acting on another tip, Big Island police captured a second fugitive in less than a week.

At 8:10 a.m., Puna patrol officers apprehended 35-year-old Harry K.R. Harrison, an escapee from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center. He was apprehended in the Glennwood area of Puna.

Harrison was arrested and charged with escape at 9:30 a.m.and later returned to the HCCC.

He had been sought by police since he escaped from the HCCC on August 10, 2001.

The police issued two news releases seeking the public’s help in locating the fugitive and had featured him in their “Most Wanted” section on their Web site.

Harrison had been jailed after being arrested and charged on July 10, 2001, with abuse of a family or household member, kidnapping, terroristic threatening and contempt. Police described him as dangerous.

Harrison was the second suspect apprehended because of tips from the public.

Last Friday (September 22, 2001), police arrested Jack Nanaole Napeahi, 34, who had been wanted for revocation of supervised release and contempt of court, at an address in Pahoa, Puna.

Police expressed appreciation for the public’s assistance in apprehending both suspects.
