Police seek help in solving coffee company burglary 07-26-02

Puna police are asking for the public’s help in apprehending a thief or thieves who burglarized a Mountain View coffee company and stole more than $10,000 worth of tools and miscellaneous items.

Police said the burglary occurred sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday (July 24 or 25, 2002) at the Kilauea Coffee Company.

Among the items taken were a gray Pedrollo submersible pump valued at $4,000; a red Honda EX 650 generator valued at $750; a yellow grinder and attachments valued at $250; a black Craftsman drill and bits valued at $250; a red cement mixer with a black frame valued at $500; a red three-drawer tool box and tools valued at $500; and portable cutting torches valued at $500.

Anyone with information about the burglary or stolen items is asked to call Officer Jeffrey Natividad of the Puna Patrol District at 966-5835 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
